Open Source Software Capacity Building

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is supporting the Nigerian stop of the Python Africa Tour as the first of a series of training workshops.  The event will be held at The African University of Science and Technology, Abuja from 14 – 18 June 2010

The 5-day software development workshop in the use of Python programming language is facilitated  by Datasphir, an ICT Consultancy based in Abuja and Lagos.  Volunteer python experts from across Africa and Europe will be in attendance to deliver training, programming workshops, and presentations in a BarCamp.

Python is a powerful dynamic programming language that is cross-platform and used in a wide variety of application domains. High level data structures and clear syntax make it an ideal first language and a flexible powerhouse for more experienced users.  Full features, liberal licensing and good support has made it popular in scientific computing and rapid mobile application development in both business and academia.

Interested parties should see the training schedule for more details.
